Born in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Professor Diogo is one of the original members of the first Gracie Barra academy, the birthplace of Gracie Barra Jiu-Jitsu. As a direct student of Master Carlos Gracie Jr., he trained in the heart of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu’s legacy, embracing Gracie Barra’s core principles.
In 2014, Diogo moved to California, where he continued his journey under Professor Phillipe Della Monica, who awarded him the rank of Black Belt.
With over two decades of experience, Diogo has become a multiple-time IBJJF champion and an impactful instructor, teaching students of all ages—from young kids to adults. He works with a wide range of individuals, from professional athletes to law enforcement officers.
As a role model and mentor, Professor Diogo embodies the essence of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, carrying forward the Gracie Barra legacy with integrity and excellence. His dedication to his students and the art serves as an inspiration to all who train with him.
Born and raised in the Bay Area, Professor Mike Lee relocated to Southern California in 2010 to pursue a career in law enforcement. He began serving his community in 2012 and spent over 12 years in the field, ultimately retiring as a detective to follow his true passion—teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Prof. Mike was awarded his black belt in 2021 under Professor Philipe Della Monica, head instructor at Gracie Barra Headquarters. With nearly two decades of experience on the mats, he has taught students of all ages—from young children to adults—and has worked extensively with first responders, law enforcement personnel, and elite-level competitors.
Now leading at Gracie Barra Murrieta, Professor Mike brings his deep knowledge, discipline, and passion for Jiu-Jitsu to help build stronger individuals both on and off the mats.
